Nemesis at Alton Towers – Behind the scenes
opened in 1994 Nemesis at a cost of ten million pounds quickly became a favourite coaster amongst enthusiasts and the public alike.
I dont count coasters or number of rides on a particular coaster but if i were to look back over the years to 1994 my count would be well into the hundreds if not more.
A trip to Alton towers just isnt the same without a ride on Nemesis for me and many other enthusiasts. I hope you enjoy the photographs.
Some ride stats.
Height 43ft
Drop 104ft
Length 2,349ft
Max speed 50mph
Inversions 4
Duration 1m 20secs.
Capacity 1,400 riders per hour.
We were fortunate enough to have a behind the scenes tour of the ride in July 2007, this was an organised tour arranged by the park and these are the pictures taken on that event.

I have to admit, what an incredible read, some of the photos are amazing, especially the ones showing the station.

words cannot describe ow obsessed i am with this rollercoaster-when i first heard its name-i new this was going to be an all-time favourite. when i first saw a pov on youtube-there was something special in the back of my mind. when i went on it the first time-it blew me away-this will always be my favourite rollercoaster in the world ever-i know there are the most emotional times coming when it is taken down. i know pretty much everything about it, and i nearly cried when i saw it again for the first time in half a year(long story). i want to marrry on it, die on it, and be buried in the little gibbot that hangs down from the rocky bit around which the pre-loop stall turn takes place(so wot if it freaks guests out?) and basically, yeah. you get the picture. i am devoted to this rollercoaster
To John Wardley: hi <:D

How do you go on these behind the scene tours?
I’d love to get my camera into rides. Oh the thrills! Amazing pictures

Hi,
You need to contact the park directly, I have a feeling they dont do them anymore though. If they do you wont be allowed on the rides with cameras but you do get a good look around.
Thanks

Did you get to go around all the others like air or my personal favourite sonic spinball? I guess it must have been awesome… I am so going find out if you can still go behind the scenes

Hi Helena,
Apologies for the late response. We got to see Nemesis, Air, Duel, Rita, Charlie and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, inside one of the old towers which is now used for mobile phone masts and in one of the conference rooms where they had photographs and models on dislpay for us to look at. Thanks
